How to Protect Your Domain and Email When Switching SaaS Providers

Heads up for those planning a SaaS provider switch:Before leaving your current SaaS provider, if they manage your DNS zone, don't forget to request a zone export.

If you switch to another SaaS provider without doing this, and they shut down your account, all services connected to your domain, including your emails, will become unavailable. This also affects other backend configurations for your CRM, Mailchimp, and other connected services.

If possible, never delegate your DNS zone to third parties, as doing so means you lose control over your domain and associated services. This also increases the risk of your domain being hijacked.

Use established DNS providers like Cloudflare or Amazon Route 53 that give you direct control over your zone files, independent of any SaaS vendor relationship.
